TWO ARRESTED DURING TRAFFIC STOP FOR POSSESSION OF DRUGS AND WEAPON

According to Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “During the evening hours of Thursday, May 30, 2024, narcotics detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office were conducting traffic enforcement on the 600 block of Dry Bayou Road when a traffic stop was initiated on a 2006 GMC pickup truck for driving 53 miles per hour in a 20 miles per hour speed zone.”

Upon approaching the driver of the vehicle, identified as Vondrick Jimmerson, narcotics detectives smelled an overwhelming odor of marijuana emitting from the interior of the vehicle. Detectives then detained the driver and the front passenger, identified as Ladarius Leblanc. Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle based on the odor of plain smell. Located inside the vehicle were approximately 2.7 pounds of marijuana, one 9mm Glock 19 semi-automatic pistol, and $2,425.00 in US currency.

On May 30, 2024, Vondrick Keon Jimmerson was transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS (marijuana), possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a CDS, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, speeding and operating a vehicle while license is suspended.

Ladarius Leblanc was also transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail and charged with possession with intent to distribute schedule I CDS (marijuana), illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a CDS, and transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses.
